Information
Summerleaze is a sandy beach connected to Crooklets Bay at low tide.

There is lifeguard cover from May to September, between 10am and 6pm. There is also first aid, emergency telephones and radio. Safe areas are defined by flag systems and safe bathing times are shown on a blackboard at the beach entrance. There is also a tannoy system to warn and advise. Strong rips can develop around low tide.

Dogs are allowed on the beach, with dog bins provided.

There are Cafés, restaurants, and toilets with disabled access.

The beach is popular with holidaymakers and all the water activities are zoned. There is also a large outdoor swimming pool on the beach.

There are rock pools and cliff walks from the beach with local nature reserves nearby. The beach is on the South West Coastal Path.

Bude itself is a lively 'surfy' town with plenty of pubs, clubs, shops and surf shops. The annual Bude festival is the 3rd Saturday in August and the Bude Jazz Festival is on the August Bank Holiday.

As far as Forces-of-Nature sports go, Summerleaze is popular with surfers. It holds waves of up to 6 foot and works best in S-SE winds which are offshore. At high tide a righthander can be surfed just off the outdoor swimming pool, at low tide there is sometimes a lefthander known as 'The Barrel' just behind the breakwater. Watch out for rips by the breakwater though.

As with other beaches in Bude it can get very crowded in the summer.
